Chile Investments was invited to the recent seminar, Investment Opportunities in the Food Agribusiness Industry, given by CORFO, Chile's government backed development agency.
CORFO invited business people from the USA, Italy and Spain. amongst others to participate in the seminar, which explained many of the reasons why Chile is such a good investment destination in vineyards, fruit farms and olive groves.
CORFO provides subsidies and low cost loans to foreign and local investors. A case study of AVOMEX, which produces the Wholly Guacamole brand in the USA showed that the company received almost us$2 million in subsidies from CORFO for introducing a new high tech processing plant in Chile. This accounted for over 10% of the company's total investment in Chile.
CORFO also reimburses, for example, up to us$60,000 in initial investigation fees for company's looking to invest in Chile and provides low cost loans in the start up phase for new businesses.
In addition to the subsidies and loans, the agency provides market data and country information to potential investors.
Chile Investments works with CORFO to help investors access these considerable financial benefits.
